John Oliver Takes Down the FCC: Net Nutrality

Net Neutrality has always been a major topic of conversation, but John Oliver (formerly of the Daily Show on Comedy Central) and his new show "Last Week Tonight" does a fantastic job of dismantling the FCC, lobbyists and cable companies and elevating this topic to a national imperative for action.

Make sure that you write in your comments to the FCC by using this web address: GCC.gov/Comments.  Let your voice be heard.

Net Neutrality: FCC Opens Up Rules for Comments

The net neutrality rules that are being considered by the FCC have moved forward by one step.  The commission has voted to begin formal consideration of, what I, and many are calling, a terrible and innovation-killing set of regulations that would effectively end a fair and open internet (more here from CNet, Scientific American, Huffington Post, and Gizmodo).

During his formal consideration phase the FCC (as well as other agencies like HHS for the healthcare overhaul) opens up its floor for public comment.  Here's how to do it:

  1. Head over to FCC.gov/comments (opens in new window) and look for the title "Protecting and Promoting the Open Internet".
  2. Look for the the number "14-28"  which will allow you to fill out a form and then comment.
  3. Let your feelings be known
  4. Click the "Continue" and then "Confirm"

The open forum time period closes on September 10th.

Make sure to comment, then come back here and share your thinking in the "comments" section of this post.
